August 29 - After its second successful year of operation, the World Series
of Golf has announced plans to expand internationally and bring its
patent-pending online gaming format to the rest of the world.
This year, the second annual World Series of Golf tournament was
broadcast by CBS, bringing the game to many mainstream homes, where players got
excited with what was on offer.
Operators have now promised to bring the world high stake tournaments and
online business ventures that will be the springboard for the success of the
World Series of Golf on a global scale.
The President and Chief Executive Officer of the World Series of Golf, Terry
Leiweke said: "Capitalizing on the popularity of the World Series of Poker and
internet-based gaming, the World Series of Golf is launching an international
online platform. Soon, playing tournament style golf on some of the world's
finest courses will be just a few keystrokes away."
In the pipelines is a patent pending internet based gaming format that joins
the skill of golf with the wagering format of Texas Hold 'em Poker. Players get
to play on photo realistic golf courses from around the world and make bets
based on the Texas Hold 'em style.
As part of its expansion plans, the World Series of Golf is planning an
international World Series of Golf tournament in 2009, with small events open to
amateurs and a major professional $200,000 buy in main event.
"World Series of Poker promises to create an entirely new mode of play that
is unlike anything that is currently available in either competing sports or
gambling oriented games," promised Leiweke. "For golf, Texas Hold 'em and online
enthusiasts, it's a 'hole' new world!"
