US Online Gamblers Using Canadian Loophole - 01-24-07
>>

January 24 - There is apparently hope for US-based online poker players suffering under the US government's 'Draconian online gambling ban' with news that they can continue to play poker online thanks to a loophole involving their neighbors to the North where online gambling is legal.
Who would ever have thought that Canada would come in handy one day, but
it has. It seems that there is a loophole whereby American online poker players
can access and play on online poker rooms for real money thanks to Canadian IP
addresses.
The trick is to 'appear' to be accessing the online gambling site from a Canadian-based IP address. How it works is that cunning US-based players are seeking out Canadian residential addresses that contain a common last name and then use an IP redirecting service, of which there are many floating around the Internet.
Said an online gambling expert, 'It's actually pretty easy to get onto an online
poker room that bars US-based players once you've installed an IP redirect
program, as the majority of online gambling websites don't verify telephone
numbers or addresses when a new player registers.
The clever IP redirect programs hide the American IP addresses and behind Canadian ones so that it appears to the online poker rooms that the players are Canadian. Get ootta here, eh!
Regarding the problem of all US banks and financial institutions and some online
payment companies no longer doing business with US-based online gamblers, there are still two reputable online payments processors that happily accept American money - Epassporte and Click2pay.
How long this loophole will be allowed to remain open by US authorities or how
much longer the remaining 'US-friendly' online payment processors will continue
to accept American business remains to be seen.
