|   | | January 27 - According to a recent survey conducted by UK-based magazine, Inside Edge, and a
well known online casino, it seems that more and more people throughout the
nation are trying their luck at online gambling.
During a three month period, over 2,700 people all across the UK were questioned
for the survey with very interesting results. For example, the survey revealed
that of the staggering four million Brits that dabble in online gambling each
month, nearly 40% favor online poker, 22% online roulette, and 18%
blackjack.
In just 2 years, the amount betted by UK-based online gamblers has risen by
nearly 600%. This high growth rate begs the question of whether a proposed
gambling bill, which allows previously off-shore online casinos to operate from
within the UK, will further increase the nation's 'crush' on Internet gambling.
Traditionally, UK online players have had little or no recourse against the
offshore casinos because they have not fallen within the controls of the
government.
A spokesperson for the Gaming Board for Great Britain stated that while the UK is
fast becoming one of online gambling's hot spots, the country's current laws
need to be updated to accomodate the current virtual gaming trends.
