March 5 - A new release by the UK Gambling Commission has shown that 8% of adults in the UK had taken part in at least one form of gambling in the last month. The document revealed the National Lottery was the key activity for remote gambling. More than 5% of respondents said that they had gambled remotely on the Lottery in the previous month.
Second place in popularity was online poker. Gambling via a computer, laptop or a handheld device was most popular at 5% and gambling via mobile phone and interactive/digital TV followed. The paper also revealed that those most likely to be involved in gambling activities would probably be aged 18-34.
The Gambling Commission chairman Peter Dean stated that this survey is an important component of the Commission's monitoring and that figures reveal the new technology people are choosing to gamble.
