March 25 - Top online gambling software developer, Playtech, is being sued in an
Israeli court over alleged copyright infringement regarding online roulette
technology.
A lawsuit has been filed in the Tel Aviv District Court by Yaakov Rafaeli, CEO
of Lubar, against Playtech over a patent infringement over an online roulette
system that could change the face of online gambling.
The lawsuit stems from the fact that Lubar is claiming that Playtech and other
online gambling companies are using its 'real time' online gambling technology
illegally.
While the majority of online casinos and online gambling sites use high-tech
Random Number Generation (RNG) software to generate random online gambling game
results, Lubar makes use of live roulette operators in actual casinos.
Lubar claims that its online roulette results are determined with actual
casino gambling equipment as opposed to RNG software. Lubar claims that it holds
patents for this technology in the United State and Australia, with patents
pending in other countries.
