|   | | August 29 - Ask any seasoned gambler what takes up valuable gambling time in
casinos and they will tell you queuing, eating, relaxing by the pool or watching the live shows.
Well, that could all change with the introduction of a new 'portable or mobile'
gambling device.
The device will allow gamblers to continue to play their favorite
casino games, for real money, without physically having to be at the table or
machine. This means time queuing at a buffet could become quite lucrative.
Thanks to a newly passed Nevada law, all casinos and gambling resorts
based in the state can offer their players hand-held, wireless devices
which, in effect, use Internet or online gambling technology.
While online gambling is still pretty much illegal throughout the US, under this
law, these devices will be allowed limited coverage within demarcated areas in
the casinos.
There is also a prerequisite that the devices be used in casinos that contain at
least 100 slot games and one other gambling game.
Nevada State Gaming Control Board chairman, Dennis Neilander, said it would
still take a few months to finalize regulations for using Internet gaming
handhelds but that this technology could help revolutionize the industry.
