| January 19 - The well known online gambling software developer - Real Time Gaming (RTG), may be relocating their company from Atlanta, Georgia to Costa Rica which is more gambling friendly. The news however has not yet been confirmed by RTG.
Although the company is looking to relocate their online gaming business elsewhere, moving to Costa Rica seems less likely. Costa Rica is home to a couple of government regulated online gambling companies and the online gambling industry is one of the leading generators of revenue for the country.
Despite this there is speculation as to what extent the Costa Rican government will stand up to the United States. This follows the arrests of several Costa Rica based executives in the gaming business.
With regards to the trustworthiness of the RTG rumors, analysts are taking them seriously. There were also reports that the company has been looking to sell and has been talking with a serious buyer, however no deal has been confirmed.
The news leak stated that employees were informed that the company would be closing soon without staff members being relocated to Costa Rica. RTG online casinos will however continue to do business whether RTG is acquired or relocates.
