|   | | May 16 - On Monday this week in a Missouri courtroom, Gary Kaplan, founder of
the multi-billion dollar online sports betting website, BetOnSports, pleaded not
guilty to charges of tax evasion, federal racketeering, tax evasion and fraud.
This was Kaplan first appearance in court following his arrest in the Dominican
Republic on March 30 this year.
Kaplan is one of ten people and four companies
(including BetOnSports) indicted by the US District Court in St. Louis on
charges of accepting billions of dollars in illegal bets from US-based sports
fans.
In November last year, BetOnSports settled a civil complaint which resulted in
the top online sports book
refraining from accepting bets from US-based online gamblers, as well as refunding all monies sitting in US customer accounts.
However, BetOnSports still faces criminal charges and has continued to be fined
$5000 every day since February 2007 for not showing up to face these charges.
Good luck Gary, we at Top Gambler support you and look forward to the day when BetOnSports will be back online and Americans can choose to gamble online just as they can choose to sing the Star Spangled banner.
