January 17 - The finding of a new survey claims that online gambling in the workplace costs English firms over ?300m annually in the loss of productivity.
The survey also reveals that 30% of employees had either used an online casino, bought a lottery ticket or made a bet during office time or that they knew someone who had done so.
It is estimated that such employees would accumulate up to 13 hours of online gambling annually, substantially affecting company productivity.
Blamed for tempting employees to gamble at the work place is the rise in popularity of online casinos and betting sites and the unmonitored Internet provided at most workplaces.
