April 2 - The online gambling company - Sportingbet PLC, has announced that it intends to relocate the business to the Channel Islands.
The reason for the move is due to ambiguity that surrounds the requirements of the 2005 UK Gambling Act. This has seen the Channel Islands, which does not operate within UK mainland law turn into an attractive option for the company.
In a statement, Sportingbet said that its most practical course of action is to move the activities that it anticipates may be covered by the Act, to a jurisdiction that has a more definite regulatory environment. The move is set to take place by September 1.
