July 5 - It is no secret that lobbyists have recently been flocking to Capitol
Hill in Washington D.C. to voice their concerns over the proposed regulation of
online casinos and gambling in the US.
While the US Justice Department has always deemed gambling online illegal, the
success and tremendous growth of online casinos and gambling in the rest of the
world and the great number of lobbyists supporting online gambling is begging
the question, why should it be illegal?
As a result, US lawmakers have started to push for regulated online gambling as
part of the Republican 'American Values Agenda' which may be voted on in the
next few months.
Many online gambling proponents are curious as to why the US has not followed in
the footsteps of the British government which has 'remodeled' its gambling laws
many times in order to satisfy both gamblers and government, though proper
regulation.
One online gambling operator was quoted as saying that Americans make up
the world's largest online gambling contingent so instead of banning gambling
online in the US, why not legalize it and subject to taxation and regulation?
