|   | | November 23 - Top online casino poker room, PartyGaming, which operates
PartyPoker.com, has ended its bid to acquire rival online gambling poker room,
Empire Poker.
Takeover discussions were effectively 'folded' when the
online poker
powerhouse's offer for its rival, Empire Poker, topped 60p per share, valuing
the deal at ?370 million.
This figure was ?420 million under the unsuccessful takeover bid made earlier
this year for Empire Poker by online sports book, Sportingbet.
A PartyGaming spokesperson revealed that the online poker room had made an offer
for Empire Poker that it felt was a fair reflection of the company's future
prospects and symbiotic profits.
In a twist, shortly after PartyGaming pulled out of the takeover bid, Empire
Poker announced that it would be filing a lawsuit against the online casino
poker room for no longer using it as a 'skin' poker room.
