December 18 - Lucrative online casino and popular online gambling destination,
GoldenPalace.com, has 'hit a home run' by picking up an autographed Pete Rose
baseball bat for just over $100 000 off an online auction website.
The bat was used to hit Rose's 159th home run, an impressive achievement in
baseball. However, the online gambling giant supposedly paid more than ten
times the bat's value because of speculation of whether the bat had been
'corked' or not.
Corking was an old technique of making baseball bats slighter lighter in order
to improve a players swing and was considered cheating. A
GoldenPalace.com
representative said that if the historical bat was found to be corked, the
online casino would consider cutting it up and selling it off to aid various
charities.
No stranger to controversy, GoldenPalace.com is a huge fan of online auctions
and in the last few years has amassed an impressive collection of unusual, odd
and controversial items.
Some of the most famous of these include a toasted cheese sandwich said to resemble the Virgin Mary, the
Pope's old VW motorcar and Britney Spears' used home pregnancy kit which
GoldenPalace.com is very proud of.
