|   | | April 30 - Leading online casino and gambling operation, Bodog.com, recently faced disappointment when
a sponsorship deal involving Allegiant Air, failed to take
off.
The owners of Allegiant Air, a Las Vegas-based airline, apparently got 'cold
feet' when they were informed about the US Justice Department's hard line views
on the illegality of promoting online casinos and online gambling in the United
States.
They cancelled the 3-month, $500 000 sponsorship deal with
Bodog,
involving the branding of six Allegiant Air MD-80 aircraft. The deal would have
turned the planes into 'flying Bodog billboards' for people flying in and out
of Las Vegas.
Reacting to the news, Bodog.com founder and CEO Calvin Ayre said that he
understood Allegiant's decision and harbored no ill-feelings. 'I don't blame
Allegiant Air for backing out of the agreement given the threatening nature of the US
Justice Department,' he said.
'We support Allegiant Air 100% and are sad that they are unable to exercise
their rights to free speech as dictated by the American constitution,' he
continued.
