August 3 - On Monday this week in St Louis, Missouri, seven of the accused in
the BetOnSports case
pleaded 'not guilty' to charges of federal racketeering and mail and wire fraud.
Two of the defendants included Lori Kaplan Multz and Neil Kaplan, sister and
brother of BetOnSports founder, Gary Kaplan, each of which pleaded not guilty to the
22-count indictment.
BetOnSports, one of one of the world's largest and leading online gambling
operations, hit the headlines a few weeks ago when its then CEO, David
Carruthers, was arrested by US officials during a stopover at Dallas airport.
U.S. District Judge Carol Jackson has extended a temporary restraining order
prohibiting BetOnSports from doing business with residents of the United States until August
14th when she will decide if another hearing is necessary.
