January 28 - Industry officials were pleased to note that the Kahnawake
Gaming Commission, which offers licenses and regulation tools to some of the
top operators, has launched a new compliance program.
The Continuous Compliance program will appoint eCOGRA as approved agents to
assist in its application.
eCOGRA will submit reports of its findings to the Commission on a regular
basis.
The Chairman of the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, Dean Montour, said that the
KGC has a long standing working relationship with eCOGRA and is confident that
the watchdog group would be effectively able to implement the new program, all
the while ensuring that operator information is kept strictly confidential.
"eCOGRA is a non profit standards and player protection company that has a
substantial staff of professionally qualified and industry experienced chartered
accountants who have completed hundreds of compliance inspections over the past
six years," said Montour.
"The company, which is itself reviewed annually by KPMG, has the resources to
assess compliance and conduct monitoring programs to ensure game fairness and
adherence to key KGC objectives, and is eminently suited to the task," he added.
Some of the elements included in the new compliance program are as follows:
- An annual assessment for the gambling operator's compliance with key
regulatory objectives.
- Another annual assessment for full compliance with Kahnawake Gaming
Commission regulations that cover important issues such as money laundering,
responsible gambling, dispute resolutions and player protection.
- Analysis of live gaming data on a constant basis to ensure random and
fair games at all times.
