|   | | February 4 - The Isle of Man Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced that there has been renewed interest in the
issuing of the island's online gambling licenses.
Isle of Man spokesperson, John Gilmore, said that the DTI stand at the International Casino Exhibition (ICE) held in London last week, drew a large number of enquiries from potential license holders, the highest number of enquiries from any event the DTI has been involved in during the past two years.
Gilmore explained that online casino license seekers recognise the Isle of Man as
a well-regulated high-quality online gaming environment, and one which was
prepared to accept betting online from the US.
He said, 'Increased publicity generated by the island over the past 18 months has helped thrust
its benefits to the fore and attract more discerning enquiries that we believe will convert into
high numbers of new business in 2005'.
The DTI has been working closely with other island departments and the private sector to
offer a balanced online gaming environment with highly regulated commercial and licensing packages.
Continued Gilmore, 'We feel that we have created the right conditions to attract large numbers of top online
gaming businesses to the island, which will help boost our economy and make us a
global online casino license provider of choice'.
Earlier this week, online gaming software giant, MicroGaming launched its new global head office on the island.
