December 3 - Microgaming software company, based on the Isle of Man,
has been awarded a coveted title on the island.
The Isle of Man Newspaper Award was given to Microgaming in the Innovation
and Independent Thinking category, as recognition of the company's forceful
presence in the industry.
This is not the first time that Microgaming has won prizes in the industry.
In 2008, the Chief Executive Officer of Microgaming, Roger Raatgever was
named Business Person of the Year.
The group itself won Company of the Year in 2008 as well.
One year prior to that, Microgaming won the prize for New Business and
Program Development.
"We are honored to be recognized for our innovation and independent thinking
as these attributes have been central to our growth over the last decade," said
Raatgever, upon accepting the award.
"This award recognizes our ability to harness the creativity and passion of
our team to inspire the most inventive and cutting edge games on the market," he
said. "The Isle of Man is a dynamic place both to work and live, and is a
leading jurisdiction in the gaming industry. We are proud to call it home"
Raatgever said that Microgaming looks forward to playing an ongoing role in
contributing to the economic and social success of the Isle of Man for a long
time to come.
Microgaming was praised for pushing responsible gambling on a global scale,
as well as for establishing the Microgaming Health and Care Trust on the island.
The company moved to the island in 2001 and has been active in many aspects
of its economy and social network since then.
