|   | | September 12 - One of the toughest challenges against the controversial Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act these days is the case brought against this law by the pro-internet gambling group, iMEGA. Led by its Chief Executive Officer, Joe Brennan, Jr., iMEGA is currently preparing its case for the US Third Circuit Court of Appeals in the hope of bringing an end to the UIGEA.
iMEGA announced this week that the group had been joined by one of the top attorneys in the country, Stephen Saltzburg, a professor of law from the George Washington University in Washington. Prof. Salzburg will help iMEGA's already talented team of attorneys build their case.
Saltzburg was lauded by Joe Brennan who said about him: "Professor Saltzburg is simply one of the best. His experience speaks for itself. We are fortunate to have a true heavyweight advocate in our corner."
"We always had a strong team representing us," he continued. "The addition of Professor Saltzburg to our line up demonstrates that iMEGA is serious about meeting the US Department of Justice on equal terms in court, and that we have strong advocates making a compelling argument as to why the court should overturn this troubling law."
Saltzburg will join the President and chief counsel of iMEGA, Edward Leyden, as well as another top attorney who specializes in internet law, Eric M. Bernstein. It is believed that the combination of these three will offer a serious challenge to the UIGEA.
Saltzburg has held several key positions in the world of academia as well as with the US government. He has served as Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the US Department of Justice Criminal Division, as Director of the Tax Refund Fraud Task Force and several other positions that will help provide another perspective to the iMEGA legal team.
