|   | | February 19 - In a surprise move, popular online payment processor FirePay will extend its ban on American online gambling clients to include their Canadian neighbors as of this Wednesday, February 21st 2007.
The move is surprising because unlike in the United States, online gambling is legal in Canada. According to FirePay, the reason for the Canadian ban is a 'change in the FirePay's merchant acceptance policy regarding Canadian clients'.
Online payment processors or 'e-wallets' have been in the news a lot recently
after the undisputed leader in this field, Neteller, withdrew completely from the US market following the arrests last month of two of its founding members while on American soil.
The good news, however, is that Canadians can still use FirePay to deposit and
withdraw funds from their bank accounts, as well as make and receive payments
from all non-online gambling-related merchants.
As for Canadian online gamblers and FirePay clients, they have until February
28th to receive any outstanding payments from online casinos before FirePay
stops all online gambling-related transfers.
It is clear to us here at Top Gambler that if you are a fan of online gambling,
North America is NOT the place to live.
