| April 8 - The FBI are taking a look at the legality of online gambling at casinos in the virtual world - Second Life. The creators of the virtual world - Linden Lab have invited the FBI to take a closer look at casinos within Second life.
Currently Linden Labs are not able to regulate online casinos and there is a need for clarity regarding whether or not the company is accountable for these casinos.
The ex vice president stated that it is not clear if a 3-D simulation of an online casino is, legally speaking, the same as a casino.
The confusion is due to the fact that the Second Life game players set up businesses and take profits, not Linden Labs.
Reuters has stated that online gambling with the Linden dollar, which is Second Life's currency, most likely violates United States anti-gambling laws, which cover conditions in which there is something of value being wagered.
