|   | | July 17 - Well-known online payment processor, EcoCard, an increasingly
popular online
payment method for online gamblers, has announced its withdraw from the United
States market following the country's persecution of fellow online payment
processor, NETeller.
Top Gambler can confirm that many online casinos offering EcoCard as one of
their online deposit options have been informed by the company that is has decided to
stop servicing customer based in the United States, adding further 'fuel' to the
already volatile industry.
One online casino spokesperson said that his company was notified that EcoCard
was pulling out of the United States and replacing its EcoCard with a new
'US-friendly' option available to selected existing US EcoCard clients, those with
over $500 in their accounts.
Online gambling industry commentators have seen the move by EcoCard as a direct
result of the way in which US authorities have 'gone after' NETeller and many of
its
key executives, resulting in arrests, court appearances and a guilty plea to
'conspiracy' charges.
In addition, due to the US intervention, NETeller has undergone many
organizational 'shape-ups' including the recent resignation of NETeller's
Director and Executive Chairman, Gord Herman as well as the suspension of its
shares on LSE's AIM.
