February 22 - The third party payment company e-gold announced that it will use technology for the prevention of US players using its services for online gambling related transactions. This follows the recent US Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act requirements.
In order to comply with the Act, e-gold added a software option for all merchant accounts. This software prevents gaming companies from allowing US account holder payments.
The company says that with the intention of stopping the use of e-gold by US people for illegal online gambling, they have implemented a feature which all e-gold account holders may configure in order to block inward e-gold spends from accounts controlled by US users or those who access the Internet from within the US.
