|   | | February 5 - Throughout colleges across colleges in the US, online gambling is increasing in popularity in a big way.
Brian Benson, a student at Johns Hopkins University, admitted that he spent at least 15 hours a week gambling at a top online poker casino, simply because it was a good way of making money.
It's no secret that college students are well known for having little or no money and usually resort to working part-time jobs in fast food restaurants, bars and clubs to earn spending money and in some cases, their college tuition.
Benson, who started gambling on the Internet for fun, has proved to have what it takes to make money online. In fact, his poker skills, together with a good deal of luck, have put him on a seemingly ongoing winning streak. While he didn't disclose his total winnings, he explained that as long as he continues to win money online he sees no reason to stop.
He joins almost 85% of Americans who at some point in their lives, have gambled, 60% within the past year. According to statistics released by The National Council on Problem Gambling, almost 2 million US citizens are pathological gamblers and 6 million more are thought to be problem gamblers.
This is why online gamblers need to gamble in moderation and should not play with more than they are prepared to lose.
