July 1 - Poker players who couldn't make it to Las Vegas to one of the
world's most prestigious poker events, the World Series of Poker (WSOP),
can now sit back and experience all the action from the comfort of their own
homes, thanks to World Series of Poker Live!, and online video stream of events
directly from Las Vegas.
The World Series of Poker Live! broadcasts will be sponsored by the Austrian
gambling company, bwin, making it the only European backer of the
project. The broadcasts are being made in conjunction with the leading poker
publication, Bluff Magazine, which is based in the United States.
Selected broadcasts will be transmitted live through advanced online internet
video streaming, although it is not only direct images that poker fans will be
able to enjoy. The World Series of Poker Live! broadcasts will also include
background accounts of the event (such as player profiles, social highlights and
interviews), as well as up to the minute videos.
Kevin O'Neal, bwin's press officer, said about the new sponsorship deal:
"With this line up, we want to ensure the event is given the attention it
deserves. We're happy to bring our customers all the action from the WSOP."
Players will be brought all the exciting action from these WSOP games thanks
to a dedicated team of bloggers who are on standby to transmit the mood and
atmosphere at the events and provide interesting background information in the
process.
The climax of the World Series of Poker tournament begins this Thursday
already, with the launching of the Main Table Event. A gap of five months have
been left before the Final Table event is played out on November 9th.
Poker is not the only sport that bwin sponsors. The company extended its
sponsorship deal with Dorna Sports to become title sponsor of the British round
of the MotoGP series at Donington Park Racing circuit this summer.
