July 6 - Betfair, the quality online betting group, has announced that it is seeking a new Managing Director after the current position became available with the resignation of current MD, Mark Davies.
Davies announced that he was resigning in a bid to pursue the creation of his own Public Relations firm, named Camberton.
The new PR firm will offer services such as reputation management, communications and public affairs.
Such good faith has Betfair put into Davies' new venture that it has already signed up as Camberton's first customer.
Speaking of his time as Managing Director of one of the fastest growing betting groups in the industry, Davies said: "It's been fun. But in recent months I haven't been able to offer Betfair as much I'd like to of what I think I am best at; so I think it's time to move on to new things."
His plans for the future are very clear to Davies. "I have set up a company of my own, Camberton, which will offer to a broader church (ie. I'm on the lookout for clients!) the sort of thing that I have been responsible for at Betfair over the last decade," he said.
Betfair has not yet announced a replacement for Davies.
"Mark has been with the company since it was little more than an idea and has helped it grow into the largest online sports betting business," said the Chief Executive Officer of Betfair, David Yu. "As our 'voice' in the market, he has contributed much to our distinctive positioning."
