Anti-Online Gambling Senator Announces Retirement - 12-04-06

>>

December 4 - Online gambling fans throughout the United States must be celebrating like mad with the news that Bill Frist, one of the US Senate's leading opponents of online gambling, will retire shortly from public service.

What's more, Frist, a Senator Republican from Tennessee and one of the largest supporters of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), has also announced that he will not be running for President of the United States in 2008.

Who knows, maybe he woke up one morning and realized that with one jackass currently in the White House, the United States sure as hell doesn't need another one anytime soon!

Frist became known throughout the online gambling industry when he 'sneakily' attached the UIEGA to a Safe Port Bill in Congress in October of this year, ensuring that the act was passed with no objections.

While The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act did not make it illegal for Americans to gamble online in the United States, it made it illegal for US banks and credit card companies to process payments related to online gambling websites.

One of the reasons industry analysts believe Frist may be retiring are the persistent rumors dogging him regarding his alleged  involvement in insider trading.

In fact, the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington have honored Senator Frist by adding him to their '20 Most Corrupt Members of Congress' list.

Bye bye Frist from all of us at Top Gambler!
